"I love Paris."
That's what some Northwestern students will be thinking as they experience the wonders of Paris this spring break. Those students going on the trip will be attending the twelfth annual international media seminar where they will have the unique chance to talk with prominent international media figures.
Professor Lee Huebner has chaperoned this trip for the past eleven years and is eager to return with this year's students. Huebner says "it's actually five days of meetings--five and a half days of meetings. A lot of people add a day or two on either end to see more of France and Paris, but we try to provide a chance for them to do that during the trip also."
This particular program blends seminars, discussions and media visits with free time for relaxing and touring. The guest speakers have included leading foreign correspondents in Europe, media executives, and embassy officials. And their topics have ranged widely over the fields of international media and journalism. All these things combined make for a very long-lasting and worthwhile one for Northwestern students.
One Northwestern student who participated in the program last year talked about her experiences on the trip.
Medill senior Jacqueline Chmielnicki says "it was an amazing opportunity to go to Paris and not only to be in that city, but to hear people who work in the same field i'm interested in."
Those planning on attending the trip book their own tickets and can stay as long as time permits during the week of spring break. The program is open to all interested Northwestern students. For information on being a part of this trip, contact Professor Lee Huebner or visit the School of Communication website at communication.northwestern.edu.
