Perry clinches G.O.P. gubernatorial nomination

The contested G.O.P. nomination for governor goes to incumbent Rick Perry.
Governor Perry beat Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson in the closely-watched race.
Hutchinson was the leading candidate one year ago, but Perry's campaign focused on anti-Washington sentiment among conservatives. That campaign seemed to win over Texas voters.
Perry will face Democrat and former Houston mayor Bill White in the general election.
