7-year-old Noah Briere unloads a U-Haul full of water he collected for the victims of the earthquake in Haiti.
"I hope they'll get to Haiti real fast," he said.
Noah, a first grader at Fairhaven School in Mundelein got the idea to collect water when he saw a Red Cross commercial on the Cartoon Network. When he told his parents his plan, they were not surprised.
"It's definitely something we would expect out of Noah," said Lori Biere, his mother. "He's a very passionate kid, and he's also very caring. Once he puts his mind to something, he's adamant about getting it done."
Noah's parents helped him send an e-mail to all of his family and friends asking for donations. They helped Noah collect an astounding 160 cases of water.
"The project grew quicker than we thought it would," said his dad, Frederick Briere. "That's why we have the U-Haul."
Noah wanted to see his project through to the end, but unloading the U-Haul wasn't easy.
"I had to carry it down, and push carts, and it was a lot of work," Noah said.
But everyone at the Haitian Congress really appreciated his efforts.
"It's just amazing," said Haitian Congress Executive Director Aline Lauture. "For a 7-year-old to take that kind of initiative, it's just beyond all taht we can imagine people are doing. It's just amazing."
Noah is finished collecting water, but he hasn't forgotten about the victims of Haiti. He is constantly encouraging others to help.
"Parents, please go to redcross.org -- not com, org."
