An intensive search by Chicago and Northwestern police for a man seen with a gun turns up empty.

At about 10 p.m., there was a report of a man with a gun in his waistband on the 11th floor of the Rubloff Building. The Chicago campus building went under a lockdown for about three hours. No one matching the description of the person with the gun could be found in the building.

Description of the man:
White male in his 20s
About 5'9" tall
Sandy brown hair
Wearing a button up shirt with jeans and black jacket

Northwestern and Chicago police handled the situation in exemplary fashion, according to Al Cubbage, Vice President of University Relations.

Cubbage also said the emergency response system worked flawlessly. Northwestern students and staff received email, text and phone updates about the situation.
