The Wildcats have caught their stride in the second quarter, forcing turnovers and running a much more methodical offense. An early 2nd quarter interception by Jordan Mabin sparked the Northwestern defense following the pick with another turnover on Iowa's next offensive series that led to a Northwestern touchdown. Northwestern's Corey Wootton forced a Ricky Stanzi fumble in Iowa's own end zone, which was then recovered by Marshall Thomas leaving the Wildcats' trailing 10-7. In that play,Hawkeye QB Ricky Stanzi was left injured, keeping him out for the remainder of the 2nd quarter and leaving him questionable for the second half. Another interception, this time by Northwestern's Quentin Davie, led to a Wildcat 46 yard drive. The drive culminated in a 4 yard pass from Dan Persa to Northwestern wide receiver Drake Dunsmore, putting the 'Cats ahead 14-10 going into the 2nd half.
