After an eventful first three quarters, the 4th quarter of Northwestern’s showdown against Purdue at Ross-Ade Stadium slowed down, turning into a defensive bout. Unfortunately for the Boilermakers, costly and abundant turnovers, including a 4th quarter fumble which led to a Mike Kafka touchdown with 2:09 left to play, allowed the Wildcats to complete the comeback and finish on top, 27-21. Purdue drove 79 yards at the end of the game but were stopped on the 5-yard line, leaving them 0-1 in Big Ten play. The Cats forced 6 turnovers and scored 24 unanswered points.
