Boomshaka brought new meaning to the phrase “going out with a bang” this weekend with their spring show “Break the Chain.”
The student drum, dance, and rhythm ensemble held five performances from Thursday through Saturday for packed audiences at the McCormick Auditorium.
Members of the group used unconventional instruments such as trash cans and buckets to produce unique remixes of popular songs, as well as original beats.
Dance was also a highlight of the show, as many of the featured songs were accompanied by modern choreography created by the student performances.
While “Break the Chain” was Boomshaka’s last formal performance of the year, they have been known to play impromptu shows by The Arch or outside Tech.
