Mayfest formally announced the Cold War Kids as the daytime headliner for this year’s Dillo Day. They are an indie band best known for songs like “Hang Me Up to Dry.”
Mayfest chairs say Cold War Kids fit with the sunny vive during the day, then at night, it will be time for something a little harder.
Mayfest also officially announced that Steve Aoki will hit the stage on Dillo night. It is the first time an electronic artist has closed Dillo celebrations.
Mayfest says it is all about keeping up with NU’s music tastes.
“We think that students on campus are really in-tuned with electronic music right now, so that's why we went for a bigger electronic headliner than in the past,” said Mayfest co-chair, Janna Kaplan. “This by no means means that we're cutting out hip-hop or anything like that, but those announcements will be coming soon.”
