Discounts, glamour, fashion night out. Last week NU saw its own fashion scenes.

For the first time, NU Stitch Magazine and Unity Fashion Show teamed up for a week of fashion on and off campus.

Fashion week capped off Saturday night with the 5th annual Unity Charity Fashion Show. The show featured a lineup of cultural costumes, mainstream brands, and student designer labels. Unity’s president, Emerly Soong, says the show is meant to represent unity in the student body and an appreciation of community. They do it by getting students to think about someone else.

"They specifically focus on children in Africa and also the South Asian areas,” said Soong, “and it's really been the motivation in terms of working and planning the show throughout the five months."

She says the proceeds of the show will help fund Playing For Change Foundation that promotes music education in poor countries.
