If you're looking for parking in Evanston, be prepared to start paying more.
In an 8-1 vote, City Council passed a motion to raise the hourly rate of parking meters 25 cents. With a 5-4 vote, they raised parking fines from 10 to 15 dollars.
Some city officials say higher parking costs will discourage consumers from shopping for a longer time at Evanston stores.
However they also say the increases could generate 1 million dollars of revenue for the city's 2012 budget.
